State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine launches the interactive map of regional programs for reimbursement for "warm" loans

As reported by the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE), on September 1, 2016, the SAEE has launched the Interactive Map on reimbursement of interest under "warm" loans. The map displays the areas (cities, rayons, oblasts) where local authorities are active in providing irrevocable financing to local population for purchasing bio-boilers, thermal modernization of housing, and implementation of other residential energy efficiency improvements.

The SAEE Head Savchuk emphasized that the borrowers under the government energy efficiency program may also participate in the similar local programs and receive support not only from the national budget but also from the oblast or rayon budget thus purchasing energy efficiency equipment and materials with significant "discount".

He stated that in 2016 as a result of the effective cooperation between the SAEE and local self-governments 184 local programs were adopted in all regions of Ukraine under which local population receive assistance to implement energy efficiency improvements. Out of these 184 local programs 160 are rayon and city programs which function in parallel with the existing state and oblast-level support mechanisms.

Over 22 000 households, that is almost 1/3 of the participants of the government "warm" loans program, have been already reimbursed for interest under EE loans for the total of UAH 19 mln. Over 70 homeowners associations (OSBB in Ukrainian) were reimbursed from the local budgets for the total amount of almost UAH 1 mln.

The GIZ Project "Establishing energy agencies" that is implemented On behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) provided assistance to the SAEE regarding development of the interactive map.
